DM-PS2601-VGA Edge-AI ToF People-Counting Camera
DM-PS2601-VGA combines VGA ToF depth sensing and onboard AI processing to deliver people-counting data over Ethernet. Count, coordinate, height and movement-trail outputs give your application inputs for entrance footfall, occupancy reporting and movement analysis.
Key Highlights
- Receive structured people-counting results from an onboard Linux processing platform with an ARM processor and NPU.
- Plan entrance coverage with a 120° horizontal × 90° vertical field of view and a 0.3–5 m working distance.
- Connect count, coordinate, height and movement-trail data to your application through Ethernet and TCP.
- Plan power and mounting around a 12 V supply and a 65 × 65 × 60 mm camera enclosure.
Overview
DM-PS2601-VGA integrates a 640 × 480 ToF camera with dual VCSEL illumination and an onboard Linux edge-computing platform. The processing hardware combines a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7, NPU and RISC-V MCU, with 2 GB DDR4 memory and 8 GB eMMC storage.
The camera handles its people-counting function onboard and sends results through TCP over Ethernet. Your receiving application can use those results for reporting, zone logic and analytics, keeping the camera-side sensing and the site’s application workflow connected through a network interface.
VGA depth imaging at 30 fps and a 120° × 90° field of view support scene-coverage planning. Position the camera around the entrance geometry, distance to people and expected traffic paths.

Applications
Entrance footfall
Connect people-counting results to a receiving application for retail, commercial-building or venue entrances. Plan the observed area around the opening, walking directions and nearby obstructions.
Occupancy reporting
Use counting results as inputs to room or facility occupancy software. The receiving application defines entry and exit accounting, reporting periods and reset behavior for the site.
Movement and queue analysis
Bring coordinate and movement-trail data into zone-flow and queue-analysis workflows. Arrange the mounting position so the relevant paths and waiting areas remain in view.

Integration
Plan the scene
Start with entrance width, mounting position and the movement you want to count. Include the distance to people, camera angle, door swing and occlusion in the coverage layout. A site evaluation with representative traffic helps establish the counting area and application rules.
Connect power and Ethernet
Provide a regulated 12 V supply rated for 2 A and budget for the 15 W peak consumption. Reserve access for the DC jack and Ethernet cable, together with space for mounting and ventilation.
Plan the receiving application around the selected firmware’s TCP messages, output definitions and update behavior. Include count handling and network reconnection in the application workflow.
Our 3D people-counting and footfall guide covers installation planning and the path from camera output to a site analytics system.
FAQs
What people-counting data can my application receive?
Outputs include count, coordinate, height and movement-trail data over TCP. These provide inputs for footfall reporting, occupancy logic and movement analysis in your receiving application.
Does the camera process people counting onboard?
Yes. DM-PS2601-VGA combines ToF sensing with an onboard Linux platform, ARM Cortex-A7 processor, NPU and RISC-V MCU. It sends people-counting results over Ethernet.
How should I plan coverage?
Start with the 120° horizontal × 90° vertical field of view and 0.3–5 m working distance. Use the mounting angle, entrance layout and distance to people to define the observed region, then evaluate it with the traffic expected at the site.
What power and network connections does it use?
The camera uses a 12 V / 2 A supply through a 2.5 mm DC jack and Ethernet for TCP data. Power consumption is 5 W average and 15 W peak.
What resolution and frame rate does the depth camera provide?
The depth camera provides 640 × 480 imaging at 30 fps. Plan the receiving application’s timing around the people-data update behavior of the selected firmware.
