Each pixel of the ToF camera can obtain its own depth information independently, so that the entire camera can form a color picture of depth information to display like a traditional camera.
Three simple processes briefly describe how ToF cameras work:
1) Transmit short-band fixed frequency pulses;
2) The pulse is reflected from the measured object;
3) The reflected pulses of objects at different positions are captured by the camera at different times, so as to obtain specific data information.
Since the ToF camera can directly output depth information according to the formula, it does not need to use algorithms similar to binocular vision to calculate, so it has the characteristics of fast response, simple software, and long recognition distance. At the same time, since there is no need to acquire and analyze grayscale images, it is basically not affected by factors such as external lighting or surface materials of objects.
