Compared with other stereo camera measurements, such as triangulation systems, binocular stereo cameras, ToF cameras are small in size and have excellent accuracy, which is very suitable for some scenarios that require lightweight and small cameras, such as smartphones, smart door locks, robot vacuum and more. ToF cameras can quickly calculate depth information in real time, reaching tens to 100fps; while other binocular stereo cameras need to use complex correlation algorithms, and the processing speed is relatively slow. ToF cameras can avoid these shortcomings, and the depth calculation of ToF is not affected by the grayscale and features of the surface of the object, and can perform 3D detection very accurately; while the binocular stereo camera requires the target to have good feature changes, otherwise depth cannot be performed.
